BETTIAH, Sept. 4 -- Two truck drivers were critically injured after their vehicles collided and burst into flames at a village on a national highway-27 passing through East Champaran, police said on Thursday. Piprakothi's station house officer Brajesh Kumar said the incident occurred when a truck carrying tiles rammed into a stationary truck at Bathana village on NH-27, leading the vehicles to turn into fireballs around 10:30pm on Wednesday. "The two drivers who were trapped inside the trucks were rescued and rushed to sadar hospital at Motihari for treatment," the station house officer said. Eyewitnesses said panic gripped the area after the two trucks caught fire following the collision. Video footage from the spot showed the trucks ablaze, with people running around in confusion amid screams and cries. Despite the panic, bystanders managed to rescue the drivers of the two vehicles before police arrived. On getting the information, a police team reached the spot and rushed the injured drivers, rescued from the trucks to the sadar hospital at Motihari, where their condition is stated to be critical.
