PATNA, Aug. 8 -- The historic city of Rajgir, 91kms south-east of Patna, will host the prestigious Asia Rugby under-20 Sevens Championship-2025 on August 9 and 10. This is the first time Bihar will host an international rugby event, marking the state's debut on the global rugby stage, said a statement from the department of sports. The championship will feature top eight men's and women's teams from across Asia. India, Hong Kong, China, UAE, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia have sent their men's contingent, while India, China, Hong Kong, UAE, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, and Nepal will field the women's contingent. Nepal replaces Malaysia in the women's category this year. The Indian squad includes six players from Bihar - four in women and two in men's team showcasing the state's growing depth and talent, the release said. The players were selected after a national camp at SAI's Netaji Subhas Eastern Centre, Kolkata. Sumit Kumar Roy of West Bengal leads the Indian U20 men's team, with Karan Rajbhar as its vice-captain.
