SVU raids 5 places of water resource dept engr
PATNA, Sept. 12 -- The special vigilance Unit (SVU) on Friday simultaneously raided five locations of Rajendra Kumar, superintendent engineer of the minor water resources department in connection with an alleged disproportionate assets case.
Additional director general of police (ADG) SVU Sudhanshu Kumar said that on the basis of credible information received by the unit, and after its verification, SVU lodged a case the vigilance police station under section 13(2) read with Section 13 (1) (b), 12 of the prevention of corruption Act 1988 (as amended in 2018). "During investigation, it was found that Rajendra Kumar, since joining government service in 2008, has amassed vast wealth through illegal and corrupt means during his various postings, far in excess of his government salary and other legitimate sources," he said.
He said, "Rajendra Kumar attempted to pass off his ill-gotten gains as legitimate by layering them through the bank accounts of his sister, brother-in-law, and mother, and acquired immovable properties in Patna, Bindaul (Bikram), Nawada, and Mumbai. Upon preliminary verification, Rajendra Kumar has been found to possess disproportionate assets totaling worth Rs.3, crore which he acquired through illegal and illegitimate means," ADG said.
"After the registration of the FIR, on the basis of the search warrant obtained from the Hon'ble Court of Vigilance, Patna, the accused was searched at his following places in Patna, Chhapra and Gopalganj. The residence, ancestral residence and office were raided and searched by the special surveillance unit team," ADG said....
