PATNA, Aug. 25 -- Passengers of a Delhi-bound SpiceJet flight staged a protest at the Jai Prakash Narayan International Airport on Monday after the airline's flight from Patna was cancelled at short notice on Sunday night. The replacement service arranged to ferry them to Delhi was delayed by more than four hours before finally taking off at 7.16 pm, airport officials said. Flight SG 2478, carrying 83 passengers, was scheduled to depart Patna at 9.30pm on Sunday and reach Delhi at 11.30pm. The flight was cancelled at the last minute, forcing passengers to deboard and remain stranded at the airport. The passengers alleged that airline staff were unable to give them a clear timeline for the rescheduled flight. The flight's status on the Flightradar24 app also showed as "unknown", adding to the uncertainty and frustration among those waiting at the airport. A heated exchange between passengers and airline staff later escalated into a ruckus at the airport, officials said. SpiceJet subsequently arranged an additional flight to transport the stranded passengers to Delhi, with the service initially scheduled to depart at 3pm on Monday. However, the flight was delayed by more than four hours, prolonging the passengers' ordeal. The airline's regular Patna-Delhi service (SG 2478) was also delayed by more than an hour and was scheduled to depart at 12.35 am on Tuesday.
