SASARAM, July 19 -- Angry locals staged a protest and blocked traffic on the Chenari-Kudra state highway after a 26-year-old man was allegedly run over and killed by a speeding police jeep on Friday night, officials said. The victim, identified as Kripa Shankar Tiwary (26), was returning to his native village, Palaundha, from Chenari market when the accident occurred near the Punjab National Bank under the Chenari police station limits, police said. Following the incident, protesters raised slogans against the police, demanding strict action against the driver and justice for the bereaved family. Police personnel struggled to bring the situation under control and restore traffic movement before assuring the protesters that a case would be registered and appropriate legal action taken....
