PATNA, Oct. 29 -- A discrepancy has been detected during the investigation of preliminary examination for the recruitment of sub-inspectors, organised by the Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC), said a an officer of the Economic Offences Unit (EOU). "After the preliminary examination commenced, the question papers were sent outside the examination centre and solved by a solver gang. The question papers were sent outside by candidates Rupesh Kumar and Naresh Kumar, who were also successful in the preliminary examination. Rupesh Kumar later also cleared the main examination," said an investigating official. Recommendations are being sent to the commission for appropriate action against both candidates, the official said. These irregularities surfaced during the investigation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Economic offence Unit (ECU). In this case, an FIR was registered at the EOU on Tuesday under the relevant sections of the BNS, 2023 and the Bihar Public Examination (Prevention of Unlawful Means) Act, 2024. The investigation is on. According to the investigation, on January 18, 2026, question booklet number 51212241 for the first shift and question booklet number 52212038 for the second shift were illegally sent out from the examination centre on the first day. The centre was 2 RPC High School, Purniya City. It is alleged that the question papers were sent out with connivance with officials and personnel involved in the examination operations, and their answers were prepared and handed over to the candidates. In the investigation by the EOU, the role of the Centre superintendent, Mohammad Muzaffar Alam, and his assistant-cum-office staff member Vivek Kumar's irregularity has come to light. The investigation has revealed that the actual seating plan was manipulated to set the exam. Evidence has been obtained of preparing separate seating plans, concealing evidence, and submitting incorrect reports to the commission. Furthermore, allegations have emerged that candidates were seated in a manner different from the recently prescribed standards, examiners were arbitrarily assigned replacements, and duty charts were incorrectly signed. Based on the commission's responses, records, CCTV footage, inquiries from the Centeral Inspector and examiners, their written statements, and an examination of the seating plan and duty charts, the SIT has drawn these conclusions. According to the EOU, no evidence has been found so far in the investigation to confirm that the chain of command broke down before the examination began. According to the investigation team, both question papers were taken out of the centre after the examination started. It is known that an SIT was formed on September 2, 2026 to investigate alleged irregularities in the preliminary and main examinations. The investigation report related to the main examination has already been handed over to the commission, after which the main examination was cancelled....
