PURNEA, Aug. 3 -- In a major crackdown on drug smugglers, Bihar's Purnea police busted a smack-smuggling racket and arrested three drug smugglers and seized drugs worth Rs.3 crore seized from their possession. The arrested smugglers hailing from West Bengal were nabbed at Dalkhola on Saturday evening.
Police said that the gang was regularly smuggling smack to different areas of Seemanchal and Kosi besides parts in Bihar.
The smugglers were caught while they were carrying the consignment in a three-wheeler at Dalkhola. "The police team no sooner stopped the three-wheeler than all three began to escape," police said adding "After a chase, they were caught and when the vehicle was searched for the drug measuring over one kg was seized."
The arrested persons Aftab Alam (55), Firoz Ansari (40) and Danish Alam (20) are residents of North Dinajpur in West Bengal. The consignment was on its way to Bihar via Seemanchal.
SSP said, "Police have seized around 1.340 kg of smack from their possession and a three-wheeler and a motorcycle were seized."...
