Separated from mother, tiger found dead at VTR
BETTIAH, March 19 -- A one-and-a-half-year-old tiger, believed to have been searching for its own territory after separating from its mother, was found dead in the forests of Valmiki Tiger Reserve on Wednesday.
Forest officials suspect that the tiger may have died due to its inability to hunt independently or because of some internal ailment.
Giving the information, VTR's field director Gaurav Ojha said the carcass was recovered on Wednesday afternoon from a stream originating from the Pandai River, located to the east of Sisai village under Manguraha forest range. "During the tracking of the tiger, the sub-adult tiger was found dead in a bush," said the field director.
On the possible cause of the death, Ojha said there appeared to be two reason. "Sub-adult is the stage when a tiger gets separated from its mother to search for its own territory. The tiger may have died due to its inability to hunt independently or due to some internal ailments. The postmortem has been conducted," said the field director.
According to officials, post-mortem is being conducted, and viscera samples will be sent to a forensic science laboratory. "The exact cause of death will be determined after the report," said an official.
Tracking has revealed that the deceased tiger had ventured out of the forest on Tuesday night. It appeared to be quite weak, said Ojha...
