BETTIAH, Aug. 2 -- Laukaria police in Bagaha subdivision on Saturday initiated legal action against a woman for allegedly holding five government school students captive after they plucked jamun from a tree during school hours in West Champaran district on Friday, officials said.
Laukaria Station House Officer (SHO) Raman Kumar said that after receiving a complaint, a police team rushed to the spot and rescued the five students of Rajkiya Prathamik Vidyalaya, Bodasar, who were allegedly confined in a compound opposite the school near Laukaria.
According to a complaint filed by the school's headmaster, Shailendra Kumar, the accused, Shanti Devi, caught the students for plucking jamun from a tree, tied their hands with a rope and confined them in the open under the scorching sun from around 1 pm to 2.15 pm....
