School bus crushes special branch ASI on bike
ARA, May 26 -- A private school bus ran over a Special Branch an assistant sub inspector (ASI) riding a bike near Indu Tapeshwar Women's College on Ara-Patna Bypass Road under Ara Town Police Station area on Monday.
He succumbed to his injuries en route to Ara Sadar Hospital. The driver abandoned the vehicle near a bus stand and fled.
Rajiv Ranjan, 42, son of Ram Layak Singh, PACS (primary agricultural credit society) president of Baligaon Panchayat, was a resident of Baligaon village. He held the position of ASI in Bihar Police Special Branch and was posted in Patna.
Anil Kumar Singh, a relative, said that the victim's grandfather had passed away on Tuesday and his a religious function (held after seven days of cremation) was held on Monday.
After the ceremony, he was travelling from his village to Patna by bike when the bus hit him and he later died. His body was handed over for autopsy at Ara Sadar Hospital itself.
SHO of local Traffic Police Station Nagendra Ram said that the private bus has been seized. "Efforts are on to arrest the accused and further legal action is underway," he said....
