DARBHANGA, July 18 -- A second bizarre incident in about a week has left residents of Darhar village in Bihar's Darbhanga gripped with fear after unidentified intruders again targeted a house, stole cash and cut curly hair of a teenage girl before fleeing. In a similar incident, On July 9, five armed men had allegedly entered the house of homoeopathic practitioner Dr Pawan Kumar Mishra through the roof while his 25-year-old daughter-in-law, Karishma Devi, was alone with her one-and-a-half-year-old child. The intruders had stolen jewellery and cash and cut hair of Devi. The incident remains unsolved by the police. The latest incident occurred around 2.30 am on Friday at the house of Suman Kumar Choudhary in Darhar village under Bahadurpur police station limits. According to the family, the intruders escaped only with small amounts of cash but allegedly cut the hair of a young girl, apparently using a small knife found inside the house. According to the victim, she was asleep when she woke to the sound of a slight knock. The girl noticed a man dressed in black with curly hair climbing the staircase towards terrace while leaving. On returning to her room, she found the almirah open and clothes strewn across the floor. It was only later that she realised a portion of her hair had been cut. The girl had returned to the village only a few days ago to attend a ritual. The family alerted police around 3 am, following which police began an investigation. The incident comes barely eight days after the July 9 robbery. In that incident, the robbers had stolen jewellery worth about Rs.5 lakh and Rs.35,000 in cash besides taking away hair of the woman. Police registered a case, but no breakthrough has been reported so far. Both the robberies -- especially the cutting of victim's hair -- has fuelled panic. Bahadurpur SHO Prasunjay Kumar said police were investigating both the incidents. "The July 9 incident was a robbery. The latest appears to be a theft, as intruders did not take mobile phone or laptop kept in the house. However, in both cases, the women present in the houses had their hair cut, and we are trying to ascertain the motive behind this unusual act," he said....
