RJD forms ward-wise committees of leaders to connect to voters
PATNA, July 17 -- The opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal has formed 24 teams ward-wise to canvass for party's nominee Rekha Kumari alias Rekha Gupta in Bankipur bypoll to be held on July 30th. The ward wise committees comprises senior leaders, MLAs and former MLAs who have been tasked to interact with voters and highlight the party's agenda and issues on which the RJD is contesting the polls, leaders said.
The bypoll is a multi-cornered fight with BJP's Neeraj Kumar, RJD's Gupta and Jan Suraaj founder and candidate Prashant Kishor among prominent contestants. Party sources said the RJD formed the 24 ward committees this time as a new initiative so that the party can reach the maximum number of voters in the constituency during the ongoing electioneering, which has already started intensifying.
"Our aim is to reach out to voters and highlight issues on which our party is committed like better drainage, roads, employment and better law and order. Ward committees have been formed so that the electioneering is managed well under the monitoring of senior leaders," said Chittaranjan Gagan, party's spokesperson.
Party's nominee Gupta, who had come first runners up in the 2025 assembly polls from the constituency, too has expressed in her various interaction with media that she is getting positive response from voters. " We are highlighting basic issues of the constituency affecting common people's lives and we are getting good response," she said.
Meanwhile, LoP Tejashwi Prasad Yadav's absence from the campaign has created a buzz in the ongoing electioneering with rivals taking mainly BJP leaders a dig the RJD, saying how its top leader has already conceded defeat by missing from campainging so far....
