PATNA, Aug. 5 -- Leader of opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Tuesday alleged that the probe into the killing of executive officer of Dehri-Dalmianagar municipal council, Vimal Kumar was not being done properly and claimed police were protecting the NDA's Dehri MLA Rajeev Ranjan Singh alias Sonu Singh in the case. Addressing a presser at his residence, Yadav said the probe so far left several key points pertaining to the EO's killing. He alleged Vimal's wife had alleged that Dehri MLA Singh, who is from Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), used to demand extortion from the slain officer and was behind the killing of her husband as part of a conspiracy. "I met the wife of the deceased officer. She has accused LJP's MLA of asking for money and putting pressure on him. She alleged that her husband was killed as per a conspiracy. Why are police not probing the role of the MLA or questioning him? This is a point, I am raising. Police have an SOP in dealing with serious offence cases where all angles probed. If police are not following the SOP, it is a violation of provisions of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita," Yadav said. The Dehri MLA, however, has denied any involvement in the case. The opposition leader also highlighted that there were gaps in police claims that the EO's driver had killed Vimal by beating him with a rod whereas initially the driver made several statements telling police that few men had come on a bike and killed the officer. "Police claimed the driver killed the EO because he was peeved over not getting leaves. This is quite a vague theory. It means, drivers attached with politicians and officers may kill their bosses anytime. I feel, police have much to explain and probe deeper into the whole case," Yadav said. The opposition leader also said that a few videos have surfaced where the wife of the accused driver, Mithilesh Kumar, has claimed that her husband had been framed in the case and had no involvement in the killing. Yadav said the wife of the arrested driver had accused police of taking confession from her husband under duress in the purported video. Refraining to comment directly on the allegations levelled by Arti, IG, Magadh range, Vikas Vaibhav, who is monitoring the sensational murder case, told HT that the sanctity of the confession was confirmed by the recovery of the murder weapon. IG Vaibhav said that the weapon recovered is clearly in sync with the one indicated by the autopsy report. Autopsy report attributes death of EO Vimal to Asphyxia and Haemorrhagic shock caused by multiple traumatic injuries due to hard and blunt weapon. Yadav also said the state should give protection to the EO's family and ensure safety of all officers in the state. "The state should give a government job to the deceased EO's wife," he demanded. The RJD leader also asked why the chief minister Samrat Choudhary had not met Vimal's family yet. Tejashwi also claimed that BJP's defeat in Bankipur bypoll was the result of peoples' anger against faulty policies of the NDA government as well as BJP and Choudhary. "Since Choudhary became CM, BJP has lost two elections - the MLC poll and the Bankipur bypoll. There has been only negative politics and no progressive work under the new CM," he said....
