PATNA, Sept. 24 -- The state government on Wednesday cancelled the main written examination conducted by the Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) in May for the 1,799 posts of police sub-inspector after the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of the Bihar police submitted a preliminary probe report on the paper leak. The commission cited "unavoidable" reasons for the cancellation. The BPSSC issued a notification cancelling the main written exam after the state government ordered the cancellation of the exam based on the preliminary investigation report of the EOU. In this, information has been given about the cancellation of the written examination taken in two shifts on May 27 due to unavoidable reasons. The Commission has said that a separate notification will be issued regarding the new date of the examination. The Commission has appealed to the candidates to visit the official website of the Commission (https://bpssc.bihar.gov.in) for unverified information and to take note of the misinformation being spread by anti-social elements. The EoU found evidences that question papers coming out from the three examination centre including Gaya, Purnea and Patma. Probe revealed that some of the question papers went viral on the social media during the examination. A total of 35,857 candidates had appeared for the written examination, out of which 414 candidates were declared ineligible due to malpractice and other reasons.
