Ranchi bar murder: 10 convicts get 9 yrs in jail
Ranchi, July 22 -- A city court on Tuesday convicted all 10 accused in the high-profile murder of DJ operator Sandeep Kumar Pramanik (DJ Sandy) at the 'Xtreme Sports Bar & Grill' in Chutia police station area of the capital, sentencing them to 9 years of rigorous imprisonment, said people aware of the matter.
The court of Additional Judicial Commissioner (V) Shailendra Kumar convicted the 10 accused of culpable homicide not amounting to murder (IPC Section 304 Part II/34) and offences under the Arms Act (Section 27/35), a civil court lawyer close to the matter said.
Additional public prosecutor Khusbuddin Ali said, the court also imposed a fine of Rs.75,000 on each convict. A lawyer aware of the court order said 60 per cent of the total fine amount would be awarded to the family of the deceased, as compensation.
The case involved the fatal shooting of DJ Sandeep at a Ranchi bar following a physical altercation. Prime accused Abhishek Singh, who was involved in the scuffle returned with a rifle to shoot the DJ. The footage went viral , leading to widespread outrage....
