Ranchi, Jamshedpur have max unmapped voters
Jamshedpur, May 24 -- Ranchi and Jamshedpur have emerged as the two districts with highest number of unmapped voters, even as the Jharkhand chief election officer (CEO) released the district-wise list of 70, 84, 802 unmapped voters out of 2, 64, 87, 659 total voters in the state on Saturday before starting the door-to-door special intensive revision (SIR) in the state from June 30, officials said on Saturday.
The state has completed only 73.25% pre-SIR mapping.
"As per ECI directive, all preparations, printing of documents and training of election staff are being done from June 20 to 29. The list of unmapped voters during the pre-SIR mapping has been released and is being put up at all the booths. Voters in the unmapped list must use this opportunity to contact the booth level officers (BLOs) and get their names mapped and included in the roll.
This massive exercise is to ensure that not a single genuine voter is left out of the final voter roll," K Ravi Kumar, state CEO, told HT on Saturday.
As per the list of unmapped voters, Ranchi district has 10, 86, 363 voters unmapped out of total 26,17, 613 voters, making for a mere 59.83% mapped voters while Jamshedpur (East Singhbhum) district has 6, 31, 859 unmapped voters out of 19, 06, 188 total voters, making it for only 66.85% mapped voters as on Saturday.
Urban districts like Dhanbad, Bokaro and Ramgarh were also pretty slow in pre-SIR mapping with 61.87%, 68.31% and 69.88% pre-SIR mapping done as on Saturday. Lohardaga and Pakur topped the list with 85.23% and 85% pre-SIR mapping done respectively, followed by Dumka 81.86%, Chatra 80.68, Jamtara 80.41% and Godda 80.14% pre-SIR mapping done.
West Singhbhum deputy commissioner Manish Kumar said the BLOs would start door-to-door visit and verification of voters for the SIR from June 30 to July 29 whereas voters themselves could get their names mapped on Saturday and Sunday....
