PATNA, June 27 -- Former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi, who is also RJD's leader in the state legislative council, seems to have finally decided to shift from her 10 Circular Road bungalow as her belongings were seen being loaded and CCTV cameras were removed from her residence on Friday. This comes amid her tussle with the state's Building Construction Department (BCD), which has been asking her to vacate the site and shift to her new allotment at Hardinge Road. Devi, her party colleagues said, is not moving to her allotted 39 Hardinge Road bungalow; instead, she would shift to her son and party's working president Tejashwi Yadav's 1 Polo Road bungalow which Tejashwi occupies as the leader of the Opposition in the state assembly. A senior RJD leader confirmed that the process of shifting belongings picked up pace after the department turned down a request to construct a separate unit for Rabri Devi's ailing husband, Lalu Prasad, within the 39 Hardinge Road premises. Meanwhile, BCD officials said they haven't served any notice to Rabri after the deadline for the previous (third) notice expired days ago. BCD Joint Secretary-cum-Estate Officer, Sheo Ranjan, said: "We have not handed over the new residence to the Leader of Opposition in the legislative council. The department has not served any further notice." Rabri Devi, who served as CM from this very address (10 Circular Road) during her tenure, reportedly contacted BCD officials on Friday and asked them to prepare a detailed list of all government-installed items and fixtures added to the bungalow over the past two decades so they could be returned before the family moves out. The 10 Circular Road bungalow holds deep political significance for the Lalu's family and the RJD. It has been their official address for years, with the premises witnessing key decisions and political activity during Rabri Devi's time in power. The pressure to vacate intensified after the BCD allotted the property in May this year to state's dairy and fisheries minister Nand Kishore Ram. An earlier notice issued on May 29 had given her 15 days to shift, but the family had resisted. Rabri Devi had earlier taken a firm stand, telling media persons that she would not leave the house voluntarily. "They can call the force to vacate the place, but I will not vacate the place," she had asserted. In a related development, the BCD has also decided to issue a final eviction notice to former Tekari MLA Anil Kumar of Hindustan Awam Morcha-Secular (HAM-S), who has been asked to vacate the 15 Hardinge Road bungalow. The property has been allotted to social welfare minister Sweta Gupta. Officials said repeated reminders to the former MLA since the end of his tenure in November last year have gone unheeded, delaying handover to the new allottee....
