purnea: Search for 3 drowned boys continues
PURNEA, May 23 -- The search operation for three boys swept away by strong currents of Mahananda river at Gohas village under Baisi block of Purnea district entered the second day on Friday, with a joint team of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local divers deployed at the site, police said.
Police said that four unsupervised boys- Nasir, 11, Nurshid, 10, Arman and Mustafa, both 8, went to the river on Thursday afternoon to take a bath when one of them waded into deep waters and started drowning. In an attempt to rescue their friend, the remaining three rushed to the spot, but all four drowned.
Baisi CO Ganesh Paswan, who is monitoring the operation, said, "The team fished out Nasir's body on Thursday evening. The search for the rest of them was halted due to darkness and resumed on Friday. I have appealed to locals to keep an eye on their children near water bodies to ensure their safety."...
