Prashant Kishor takes oath as Bankipur MLA
PATNA, Aug. 18 -- After winning the Bankipur assembly constituency by-poll on August 3rd, Jan Suraaj party(JSP) founder Prashant Kishor took oath as MLA at the state legislative assembly in the presence of Speaker Prem Kumar on Monday.
After taking the oath, Kishor said it was a big responsibility for him to work on the lines of hundreds of MLAs who dedicated the valuable years of their lives to the betterment of society and the state.
" It is a matter of pride for me to be member of the state assembly where leaders like Krishna Sinha, Karpoori Thakur, Anugrah Narayan Sinha, Nitish Kumar, Lalu Prasad Yadav, Kedar Pandey, Ram Vilas Paswan, and Sushil Kumar Modi have served," Kishore said.
The JSP founder had won the Bankipur by poll held on July 30 , which was necessitated by the resignation of former MLA Nitin Nabin who was elected to Rahya Sabha in March after his appointment as BJP national president in January this year.
The election strategist turned politician, Kishor bagged 64,151 votes and defeated his nearest rival from the BJP, Neeraj Kumar by a margin of 19,324 votes. The BJP candidate had got 44,827 votes....
