Political parties welcome poll dates, gear up for showdown
PATNA, Oct. 7 -- Political parties have welcomed the two-phase elections, saying the ball is now in people's court to decide who would govern the state.
"We welcome this. This is the festival of democracy. NDA will go to the people on the basis of our work and the development of Bihar. We are prepared," said deputy CM Samrat Choudhary.
BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal too welcomed the two-phase polls. "NDA and BJP welcome this. We are confident that EC will conduct a fair election and ensure all voters vote safely. On November 14, people will give their mandate to form an NDA government once again...NDA is prepared and united for this election...With the work that we have done, we are confident that people of Bihar will like to see NDA government with more than 2/3rd votes," said Jaiswal.
Leader of opposition Tejashwi Yadav said, "November 14 will be written in golden letters in history. People of Bihar want change. They want the government of Mahagathbandhan this time. For last 20 years, they gave crime, corruption, bureaucracy, tyranny and scam to the state. People are done with this. The CM is not in his senses. We don't want a CM who pleads, we want a CM who roars like a lion. Someone who can fight for the rights of the people of Bihar and get them justice. Mahagathbandhan will form the government. When Tejashwi becomes the CM, there will be no house in Bihar with unemployed youth. When Tejashwi comes, he will give jobs to everyone. Unemployment will be rooted out of Bihar. A festival begins today...With Tejashwi, every Bihari will be a CM this time, they will be CM - change maker."
Congress leader Tariq Anwar said, "The mood in Bihar is of change. People of Bihar have only got hopelessness from those who have been in power for last 20 years..SIR was done in haste, and that is why people raised their objections...Our alliance will get a majority and take a decision (on who will be CM) in a democratic way," said Anwar.
JD(U) minister Ashok Choudhary said, "We are fully prepared, there is no problem. The results will be good. Seat distribution and our preparations are going on well...Seat sharing will be done soon."...
