PATNA, July 18 -- The cyber crime and security unit (CCSU) of Bihar police has issued a notice to X (formerly Twitter) seeking action against 10 social media accounts, including that of RJD, for alleged objectionable posts against chief minister Samrat Choudhary, officers said on Friday. The CCSU has also sought details linked to the accounts, including the creator, original sources and uploader's name, IP address, phone number, email address, GPS location, recent access, login records, uploading details and other digital information associated with the posts for the purpose of investigation and prosecution in the aforementioned case. "A complaint has been lodged against the owners of several X profiles for posting objectionable content targeting the CM. Given the seriousness of the matter, these posts must be removed within 72 hours. This constitutes an offence under sections 352/353 and 356 of BNS," said the notice. "The opposition parties have a role in the society to show mirror to the government and also highlight burning issues of people. Any posts on social media platforms by opposition parties is made based on what commoners feel about governance issues, safety and law and order. In Bihar, things are not going right with crime incidents on the rise along with widespread corruption. The opposition has a responsibility to show mirror to the government so that corrective steps are taken. But the government it seems , is trying to suppress the opposition's voice and people's voice by misusing it's powers. Our aim is to highlight people's issues only," said Shakti Singh Yadav, state chief spokesperson of the RJD, while reacting on the notices by state government to X. Recently, Choudhary expressed concern over misuse of social media. "These days some people are using social media platforms such as Facebook and others to pour abuses and try to spoil harmony in society. We are monitoring everything and such nasty things can't be allowed. People involved in such wrongful activities would be sent behind the bars. Any indecent activities and abuses on social media would invite stringent punishment," said Samrat....
