Police launch manhunt for youth after obscene videos of several girls circulate on social media
GAYA, July 1 -- Police in Bihar's Gaya district have launched an intensive manhunt for a youth charged under provisions of Pocso Act, SC/ST Act, BNS Act and IT Act at Banke Bazar police station for allegedly sexually exploiting girls from economically vulnerable backgrounds, recording the act and circulating the obscene videos on social media platforms, police said on Tuesday.
Police said that Rehan, who ran a momos stall at Banke Bazar, allegedly took the girls near a religious site on Banke Bazar hill and recorded videos of exploitation which he later circulated.
Ten such videos of four survivors have been recovered. SHO Pawan Kumar said one of the girls was identified and a case has been registered based on her brother's statement.
Given the seriousness of the case, SSP Sushil Kumar directed police personnel to intensify the investigation. The FSL and technical teams have been deployed to study the crime scene on the hill and collect evidence.
"The accused is missing and has left Bihar as per intelligence inputs. Police teams are looking for him," Sherghati-1 SDPO Sandeep Kumar said.
The action followed a protest at the Banke Bazar police station by the girl's family, residents and social organisations on Monday night.
They alleged that the accused lured minors, most from poor SC families and sexually exploited them. The agitators demanded a thorough investigation into the activities of the accused and his family members to determine the purpose....
