peddler held with Rs.12l worth of drugs in Haldwani distt
Dehradun, Oct. 26 -- The Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Uttarakhand Police arrested a 58-year-old drug peddler from Haldwani in Nainital and recovered 2 kg 20 grams of hashish worth around Rs.12 lakh from his possession, police officials said on Saturday.
Acting on a tip off, a joint team of the ANTF Kumaon unit and Haldwani police station nabbed the accused near Degree College, Haldwani on Friday. The accused, identified as Narayan Singh Pargai, a native of village Kukna, tehsil Okhal Kanda in Nainital district and currently residing in Jai Durga Colony, Haldwani, was found in possession of the contraband.
Senior superintendent of police (STF) Navneet Singh Bhullar said, "The action was carried out under the "Drugs Free Devbhoomi Campaign".
During interrogation, the accused told police that he had procured the drugs from Nauliya village in Champawat district and brought it to the plains in Haldwani to sell at higher prices. He also admitted to having trafficked drugs several times in the past....
