Patna constituencies to go to poll on Nov 6
PATNA, Oct. 7 -- Voting in various assembly constituencies in Patna district including Kumhrar, Bankipur, Patna Saheb, Digha, Fatuha and Danapur would be held in the first phase of polls on November 6 , as per the poll schedule announced by the Election Commission on Monday.
The date of gazette notification kicking off the nomination for the first phase polls would be done on October 10 while the last date of nomination is October 17. At least 121 constituencies would go to polls in the first phase.
In the second phase on November 11, 122 constituencies would go to polls, as per the schedule. The nomination process for the second phase would begin October 13 and last date of nomination is October 20.
The counting of votes would be done on November 14 while the election process would be completed by November 16. Total 74.2 million voters have been registered in the final updated electoral list as per the Special Intensive Revision, of which first time voters (18-19 years) comprise 1.4 million while in the age group of 20-29 years, there are 16.3 million voters. Voters in the elderly citizen category (85 yrs) stand at 4 lakh while there are 1.63 lakh service voters this time. Total 90,712 polling stations have been set up.
Chief electoral officer, Bihar Vinod Singh Gunjiyal said a number of poll initiatives had been taken for the first time for free, fair and peaceful conduct of polls including 100% webcasting in all polling stations, availability of counters to deposit mobile phones by voters before entering the booths and serial and clearer voter information slips and capping number of voters in each polling station to 1,200 for lesser crowding and wait time.HTC...
