Jamshedpur, July 28 -- East Singhbhum deputy commissioner (DC) has ordered a road construction up to Chitamati tollah in Dumaria Block after a patient had to be carried on a cot for 4 km downhill to the nearest hospital, while a 15-year-old girl with high fever died as the state government's 108 free ambulance never came, people aware of the matters said on Monday. "The Ghatshila sub-divisional officer has been ordered to expedite the process of community forestland lease and present a proposal of a road construction in view of problem of the road connectivity up to Chitamati tollah. The SDO has already inspected the village and terrain, which is in Jadugora village under Barakajiya panchayat, 1500 metres uphill from Kanikocha tollah. There is no concrete road in view of hilly forested terrain and hence no motor vehicle can reach Chitamati," Rajiv Ranjan, East Singhbhum DC, told the media . The order came in the wake of villagers forced to carry Chitamati tollah gram pradhan ailing Jangal Hembram on a cot on their shoulders from Chitamati to downhill Kanikocha and then shifting him to Dumaria community health centre by a hired private vehicle on Saturday. At least 22 families from Ho community live in Chitamati. Officials admitted that the villagers had called the free 108 ambulance but none recieved the call. "The 108 ambulance service is run from the Ranchi headquarters. Hembram has been found malaria negative in test and has been referred to the MGMMCH in Jamshedpur," the district administration said....
