One held with 200kg 'cow meat'
Haridwar, Sept. 27 -- Police seized around 200 kg of prohibited meat and arrested one person during a raid in Bhagwanpur area of Haridwar district on Friday, officials said. The action comes amid the ongoing Navratri festivities.
Acting on intelligence inputs, a team from Bhagwanpur police station raided Sikandarpur village, where four men were allegedly involved in cow slaughtering. "One accused, identified as Shahjad Ali (26), a resident of Sikandarpur, was arrested from the spot, while three others managed to flee. Around 200 kg of cow meat along with slaughtering tools, including axes, knives, wooden logs, and plastic containers, were recovered," said Shahzad Ali, sub-inspector at Bhagwanpur police station.
A case has been registered under the Uttarakhand Protection of Cow Progeny Act....
