One charred to death in W Champaran
BETTIAH, Feb. 27 -- A middle-aged man was charred to death and several trees were destroyed after a major fire broke out at two locations, including the Valmiki Tiger Reserve (VTR), in West Champaran district of Bihar, forest officials said on Thursday evening.
Sharing the details, Jwala Singh, station house officer (SHO) of Sikarpur police station, said the victim, identified as Dhurendra Yadav, a resident of Chamuwa village in the Narkatiaganj block of West Champaran, died while attempting to save his belongings after a fire broke out at his house around 10 pm on Wednesday.
"During the course of investigation, we came to know that a large portion of the thatched roof collapsed on him while he was trying to rescue his valuables. He was trapped and charred in the blaze," the SHO said.
Although he managed to save two to three goats, Yadav was unable to escape and got trapped in the inferno....
