No rflief to rjd strongman ritlal yadav as HC bins bail plea
PATNA, Feb. 27 -- The Patna high court on Thursday rejected the regular bail application of criminal-turned-politician Ritlal Yadav in a criminal case.
Ritlal Yadav, the former RJD MLA, had surrendered at the Danapur court on April 17, 2025, along with four accomplices, without incident. He is currently lodged in Bhagalpur Central Jail in connection with an extortion case and will continue in judicial custody unless a higher court grants relief.
The latest case against Ritlal was filed by the Khagaul police following a complaint by a Patna-based builder, who alleged that the RJD leader and his aides threatened him to pay a "cut" from his construction projects. As part of the investigation, police raided 11 properties in Danapur and other parts of Patna, reportedly recovering over Rs 10 lakh in cash, cheques worth Rs 77 lakh, six blank cheques, 14 property deeds, and 17 cheque books linked to Ritlal and his associates.
The single-judge bench of Justice Satyavrat Verma noted that granting bail was inappropriate given the gravity of the allegations and the applicant's extensive criminal history.
