Nitish, Rabri spar over Bihar law and order
PATNA, Feb. 10 -- On the fifth day of the Bihar Assembly's budget session on Monday, the Legislative Council witnessed a heated exchange between opposition and ruling party members over the safety of girls, law and order, and recent crime incidents.
As soon as the proceedings began in the Council, RJD members created an uproar over the law and order situation, repeatedly disrupting the decorum of the House.
A heated debate ensued between chief minister Nitish Kumar and former chief minister Rabri Devi over the rising crime against women in Bihar. Opposition members, led by Rabri Devi, raised slogans against the government and demanded the resignation of chief minister Nitish Kumar.
Rabri Devi directly accused the CM in the House, saying that there is no district left in Bihar where incidents of rape of girls and women are not occurring. Rabri Devi demanded the resignation of CM Nitish Kumar as well as Home Minister Samrat Chaudhary. The RJD leader said that Samrat Chaudhary himself had said he would resign if incidents escalated, so he should step down immediately.
Following her demand, opposition members stormed the well and began raising slogans, reiterating their demand for the Chief Minister's resignation. CM Nitish Kumar was angered by the Opposition's sloganeering, and he retaliated.

Our government is doing all the work. Bihar's work is being done in every way. With the support of the central government, Bihar is progressing very rapidly. Action should be taken against all these people."
The CM targeted the Opposition by asking, "Did you people ever do any work that you are speaking about today? Did you ever send girls to school?"
Later, Opposition MLCs led by Rabri Devi staged a protest on the portico of the Council. "This is a useless government. Samrat Choudhary should answer. Atrocities are being committed against Dalits and backward castes.
