NIA files charge sheet against 5 in int'l human trafficking case
PATNA, May 17 -- The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday filed a charge sheet against five persons, including absconder accused Anand Kumar Singh alias Munna Singh, for running a human trafficking and cyber slavery racket from Cambodia and luring many Indian youths on the pretext of providing jobs.
The charge sheet was filed before a special NIA court in Patna. The three co-accused Abhay Nath Dubey, Rohit Yadav of Uttar Pradesh and Abhiranjan Kumar of Bihar were arrested in February this year when they reached Delhi from Cambodia.
The fifth accused, Prahlad Kumar Singh, is currently out on bail. According to the probe agency, the accused, under an organised human trafficking gang, sent Indian youths to Cambodia on the pretext of overseas jobs and attractive salaries.
After reaching there, the agency said, youths were forced into cyber fraud operations. Their passports were confiscated and they were allegedly subjected to mental and physical torture if they resisted.
Investigations revealed that the victims were electrocuted, forcibly detained and deprived of food and water.
In the NIA investigation, Anand Kumar Singh has been found to be the mastermind of the gang. According to the agency, he used to recruit youth in India through agents and travel facilitators.
After this, he used to illegally transported them to the Southeast Asian country with his associates. The investigation has also revealed that each young man was charged between Rs.2,000 and Rs.3,000 for selling to fraudulent shell companies....
