NDA calls CWC meeting in Bihar a ploy to reap political advantage
PATNA, Sept. 25 -- The ruling NDA alliance in Bihar took a dig at the CWC meeting in Bihar and said it was convened by the Congress in a bid to snatch the 'driving seat' from its allies. People would give yet another mandate to the NDA because they had seen the RJD's rule of 'fear, kidnapping and corruption' under Lalu Prasad, the BJP claimed on Wednesday.
BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad said the Congress, which has convened its CWC meeting in Bihar after a gap of 85 years, "will have to answer why it remained silent" when people of the state were being kidnapped, public money was swindled in scams and the entire state was witnessing caste based-massacre during the RJD's rule.
He also flayed Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge for his remarks about CM Nitish Kumar during his speech at the CWC meeting in Patna and asked him to 'do some introspection' as to what was his status in his party 'where the levers of power are with someone else'.
"Their CWC meeting in Patna is purely motivated by political gains. They felt that they can take the driving seat and demand more seats (from RJD) to contest assembly polls in Bihar," Prasad told a press conference at the BJP headquarters here.
"That's why they have not declared RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav as the opposition's chief ministerial face in Bihar so far," he charged. Tejashwi was seen playing second fiddle to Gandhi in the recent yatra taken out by the Congress leader in Bihar, the BJP leader added, referring to the Congress Voter Adhikar Yatra.
Deploring Kharge's remark on Nitish Kumar that the Bihar CM, "has been mentally retired by the BJP. The BJP now considers him a burden,", Prasad said, "Such a comment coming from the Congress party's president questioning the mental status of the CM is very unfair. Beyond this I will retain my civilised comments, except to say that Mr Congress president would you kindly do some introspection as to what is your status in the party is, where the levers of power are with someone else?"
JD(U) spokesperson and MLC Neeraj Kumar also took a dig at the Congress. "For decades, Congress was in power in Bihar and several other states. It neither conducted a caste survey nor established an Extremely Backward Class Commission. Today, for electoral show, it is talking about a 'Justice Resolution'. Those who stole the title of Jananayak Karpuri Thakur should apologise first; he wasn't even awarded the Bharat Ratna. The Extremely Backward Classes know that JD(U) delivered justice," posted Kumar on X.
BJP minister in Bihar government Nitin Nabin said, "Nitish Kumar should be thanked during the CWC meeting because he has created an environment in Bihar that attracts people from all over the country. Otherwise, the deeds of Lalu Yadav and his supporters make people think twice before coming here... If their government remains in power, Rahul Gandhi, who visited all of Bihar in 16 days, won't visit a single district," he said....
