Barmer/Jaisalmer, Sept. 26 -- A 28-year-old man has been arrested in Rajasthan's Pokaran for allegedly partaking in human trafficking by paying Rs.2 lakh and marrying a girl forcibly , police said on Friday, adding that the 16-year-old has been rescued. According to the complaint, the girl's father, a resident of Arwal district in Bihar, allegedly sold his daughter to Pokaran resident Tikam Chand, in connivance with his second wife and acquaintances. The accused allegedly married the minor and had been keeping her with him. The girl's uncle approached Pokaran police and submitted a written complaint alleging that she had been sold and forced to marry. SP Abhishek Shivhare formed a team under the supervision of ASP Virendra Singh. Within around 60 minutes of receiving the complaint, the police conducted a raid in the Purohitsar area and safely rescued the girl. The accused, who were identified as Tikam Chand Mali, was arrested, police told the reporters. The rescued minor was produced before the child welfare committee and handed over to its care. Since the case originated in Bihar's Arwal district, Pokaran police registered a Zero FIR and forwarded the case to Arwal police for further investigation. Police said the roles of the girl's father, his second wife, acquaintances and other suspected middlemen will also be a part of the investigations. Manish Soni, station house officer at Pokaran police station, confirmed the development, saying that acting on the complaint, the minor girl was rescued by the police and later handed over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).
