PURNEA, June 9 -- A 38-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by a group of men following an altercation over a seat dispute at Saharsa railway station falling under ECR (East Central Railway) in Saharsa district. The man who was brutally assaulted on Sunday evening breathed his last in the hospital on Monday afternoon. An FIR has been registered at GRP station and two primary accused were arrested. The victim, identified as Mohammad Anish, a resident of Ward-24 of Saharsa Municipal Corporation, was an auto driver, who had come to see off his relatives on Purnea Court-Amritsar (Train No- 14617) Jan Sewa Express (Unreserved) at Saharsa Junction on Sunday afternoon. The Jan Sewa Express is a daily unreserved train connecting Purnea Court in Bihar with Amritsar Junction in Punjab and is also known as 'Migrant workers' train.' "The auto driver intervened in the seat dispute at platform number -3 where the train was standing and a group of seven to eight persons brutally thrashed him," GRP personnel told HT adding, "Soon he was taken to district hospital for treatment." Later, he was referred to a higher centre and the family members took him to a private hospital in Saharsa where he died on Monday. The victim was the sole earning member of his family consisting of three children and wife. Station house officer (SHO) GRP Saharsa, Sanjeev Kuimar confirmed the death of Mohammad Anish with HT over phone and said, "Two primary accused Musan Sada (66) and his son Ramesh Sada (26) residents of Mahishi (Saharsa) have been arrested and a manhunt has been launched to arrest all those who were involved in the heinous crime." SHO said, "The identity of all the accused is being ascertained through various sources including CCTV footage and they will be arrested soon." Meanwhile GRP registered an FIR on the basis of written complaint of Mohammad Nizam under various sections of Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) including 191 (2) Rioting), 190 (Unlawful assembly), 115 (2) (causing simple hurt), 117 (2) (grievous hurt), 109 (1) (attempt to murder), 351 (2) (Intimidation), 352 (breach of peace). SHO said, "After the death of the person, the accused will be booked under section 103 (Murder) of BNS." Meanwhile the incident has raised the security concerns among the passengers who have demanded adequate measures at and around the railway junction....
