Jamshedpur, Sept. 3 -- A 27-year-old man was arrested on charges of sexually harassing a 16-year-old tribal minor girl under the Bara Jamda police outpost (OP) area here following social unrest and angry demonstrations by tribal and political organisations, people aware of the matter said on Wednesday. "The case of sexually harassing a 16-year-old tribal minor girl by a man came to the fore on August 27. The survivor girl's family filed a formal written complaint on August 30 at the women police station (PS) cum Kiriburu PS. An FIR (No: 04/26) was then registered," Vineet Kindo, Kiriburu sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), told the media on Wednesday. West Singhbhum superintendent of police (SP) Amit Renu formed a special investigation team (SIT) headed by Kiriburu SDPO Vinit Kindo due to angry protests and demonstrations by tribal and political organisations. "The raiding team arrested the accused named in the FIR 27-year-old Mohammed Shafique alias Mohammed Raja from Adityapur in the Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Tuesday under sections 79, 126(2), 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and 8/12 of the POCSO Act-2012.
