BETTIAH, Sept. 28 -- Police in Dhaka in East Champaran district, arrested a 22-year-old man for his alleged links to Ali Gujjar, an associate of Pakistan-based gangster Shahzad Bhatti, and for allegedly glorifying the terror network on social media, officials said on Sunday. In an official statement issued on September 27, the East Champaran police said the man, identified as Md Sayaj Alam, son of Samsul Haq, was arrested from Bisariya village which falls under Dhaka police station on Saturday late evening for his alleged association, through social media, with an individual called Ali Gujjar who is linked to Pakistan-based gangster Shahzad Bhatti network. "A mobile phone recovered from his possession was found to contain videos, photographs and other anti-national material related to terrorist activities," reads the police statement. Sikarahana's sub divisional police officer (SDPO) Abhishek Kumar said that during the course of investigation and interrogation police stumbled upon digital evidence of the arrested person which showed that he was in contact through social media with Ali Gujjar. The latter is linked to the Pakistan-based gangster Shahzad Bhatti network. "Through his social media posts, he attempted to glorify Shahzad Bhatti and published hateful digital content on his social media walls," said the sub divisional police officer, adding further investigation into the matter is underway. According to reports, Shahzad Bhatti Network, involved in smuggling of arms, explosives and narcotics across borders, besides luring youths and petty criminals into terrorism, has been declared as a terrorist organisation under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The Union Home Ministry has issued gazette notification in this regard. The syndicate has also published hateful digital content, targeting India's democratic structure and the fabric of communal harmony....
