Man, 56, arrested with alleged Pak-link: Cops
PATNA, June 16 -- A joint team of the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Bihar and Madhya Pradesh arrested a suspect for his alleged involvement in anti-national activities from a madrasa in Madhubani on Monday.
The arrested person has been identified as 56-year-old Maulana Izharul Haq, a native of Nautol Sarisabpahi village under the Pandual police station area of Madhubani district. He was said to be residing at Madrasa Noor-e-Mohammadiya located in Urdu Mohalla under town police station in Madhubani.
People familiar with the mater said that preliminary investigations revealed that on the basis of the technical evidence, the accused was allegedly in touch with a Pakistani handler. Two android mobile phones of different makers were seized from the arrested accused and further investigations are underway, said officials. The ATS is also examining the various digital footprints pertaining to him, he added. Sources said that Madhya Pradesh counterpart will produce the accused in the local court and pray for his transit remand and then they would leave for Madhya Pradesh.
