PATNA, June 1 -- The Chancellor's office has reminded the universities of the schedule for affiliation of colleges prescribed years ago to be applicable from the 2018-2019 session itself onwards and expressed displeasure over its non-compliance. "l am directed to invite a reference to the previous letter, which prescribed a schedule for the process of affiliation of the colleges. This schedule was to be strictly followed by the universities and it was also communicated that any failure to adhere to the schedule will invite disciplinary action and the universities shall fix responsibility and accordingly report to the office of the Chancellor," said a new letter from the additional chief secretary (ACS) to the governor. The ACS has further underlined that the Patna High Court had also upheld it on April 26, 2018 and held that "there is significance of the last date, i.e. September 15 fixed for submission of application forms for grant of affiliation as indicated in the decision of the Chancellor". "The date is statutory which occurs in Article 2(d) of the said Statutes and prescribes that an application for admission of an educational institution to the privileges of the University shall be submitted not later than September 15 of the preceding academic session," he added. "While disposing of these application, the court directed that all concerned shall strictly follow not only the time schedule, but also the provisions contained in the Statutes. It is reiterated that any deviation from the schedule shall be treated as violation of statutory direction by the Chancellor and violation of the court order," the additional chief secretary wrote....
