LJP(RV) names Ashraf Ansari as candidate for Bihar Council polls
PATNA, June 7 -- Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) on Saturday announced its working state president Ashraf Ansari as the party's candidate for the 2026 biennial elections to the Bihar Legislative Council. The Bihar Legislative Council polls and by-elections for 10 seats are scheduled for June 18.
The announcement was made by the party's Bihar unit president Raju Tiwari during a press conference at the party's state office in Patna.
Expressing gratitude to Union minister and party national president Chirag Paswan for reposing faith in him, Ansari said he would live up to the trust placed in him by the party leadership.
"I will always strive to fulfil the responsibility entrusted to me by the party and our popular national president Chirag Paswan," he said.
Earlier in the day, Paswan in a post on X said, "Today, nominating him (Ashraf Ansari) as a candidate for the Legislative Council is a matter of honour for me. This decision is an inspiration for every worker who is serving the party selflessly. This decision sends a clear message that in the LJP(RV), dedication, struggle and loyalty to the organisation are respected and grassroots workers are given the highest place."
Party national spokesperson and western Uttar Pradesh in-charge Rajesh Bhatt said the decision had generated enthusiasm among party workers, describing Ansari's candidature as recognition of the commitment and dedication of grassroots workers.
