Land dispute: Man murders mother to frame brother in East Champaran distt
BETTIAH, July 28 -- Dumariaghat police in East Champaran district on Monday arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly murdering his 65-year-old mother at Saraiya Baduraha village under Dumariaghat police station in an attempt to frame his brother in a land dispute case, police said.
Dumariaghat station house officer (SHO) Vivek Kumar Balendu said, "Dharmdeo Mahato killed his mother Parvati Devi, 65, with a cleaver to settle scores with his brother Kamaldeo Mahato on Sunday midnight. Police have registered a case under section 103 (1) (murder) of BNS Act against him."
"The crime was perpetrated to portray the murder as the handiwork of his brother, with whom he was embroiled in a long-standing property dispute. During the investigation, the accused broke down and confessed to committing the crime. Police have seized the cleaver used in the murder," the SHO said.
"During investigation, it came to fore that Kamaldeo was allegedly pressuring Parvati, who was residing with Dharmdeo, to transfer a piece of land into his name. This created tensions between the brothers. Taking advantage of the situation, Dharmdeo allegedly killed his mother and dumped the body in a roadside ditch near his house to frame his brother in the murder case. An investigation into the matter is underway and action will be taken accordingly," he added....
