Land dispute: 7 injured in firing at registry office
ARA, March 25 -- Intense exchange of fire on the premises of the Piro Registry Office under Piro Police Station jurisdiction in Ara left seven people injured on Tuesday afternoon. The exchange of gunfire stemmed from a land dispute.
During the shootout, four individuals - including two brothers - sustained bullet wounds, while three others were injured by pellets. The injured are undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Ara.
The incident happened only a day before the arrival of the chief minister to the area.
The incident triggered panic and chaos within the Piro Registry Office complex, as people scrambled in all directions to save their lives.
Upon receiving news of the incident, SP Raj and Piro SDPO Krishna Kumar Singh arrived at the spot with a police force and started an investigation into the matter.
According to reports, the injured include Jitendra Yadav (alias 'Jeetu Yadav'), a 30-year-old property deale; his 25-year-old brother, Satyendra Yadav (alias 'Malkh Yadav') - both residents of Balua Tola village within the Piro police station area; Pintu Kumar (alias 'Kachche Kumar'), a 21-year-old son of Hiralal Singh, also a resident of Balua Tola; and Ritesh Dubey, a 34-year-old son of Umesh Dubey, a resident of Nagraon village within the Charpokhari police station area.
Among the victims, Ritesh Dubey sustained a bullet wound to his right wrist; Jitendra Yadav was shot in the right side of his neck; Satyendra Yadav suffered bullet injuries to his right thigh and his left leg below the knee; and Pintu Kumar sustained a bullet wound to his left thigh.
During the exchange of gunfire, three individuals sustained bullet injuries: Dinesh Kumar Singh (31), son of Chandeshwar Singh and a resident of Balua Tola village (Hero police station area); Kaushal Dubey (40), son of the late Ramniwas Dubey and a resident of Nagaro village (Charpokhari police station area); and Anil Kumar (64), son of Nehru Lal and a resident of Karat village (Tarari police station area).
A complaint regarding this matter had already been lodged at the local police station, and threats of physical violence had been issued against them on several occasions.
