Jharkhand HC fast-tracks infra blueprint for development of Rajrappa temple
RANCHI, May 18 -- The Jharkhand High Court fast-tracked the infrastructure blueprint for the development of the Rajrappa Temple while directing immediate relief measures for hundreds of small business owners affected by recent administrative actions.
A division bench of Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad and Justice Anubha Rawat Choudhary presided over the contempt proceedings on Friday. The court reviewed a newly presented Detailed Project Report crafted by technical experts for the temple site's holistic development.
Emphasising public welfare, the bench noted that its primary focus remains ensuring the spiritual site's growth without inflicting unnecessary hardship or inconvenience on the public.
During the hearing, project consultant Rajiv Chadda briefed the bench on the engineering timeline. He said the technical team required six to seven weeks to finalise the comprehensive DPR. Once finalised, the document would officially move to the department of tourism for executive evaluation and final administrative approval.
The judicial proceedings sharply pivoted to the human cost of local urban management, specifically addressing the livelihood crisis of 254 local shopkeepers. These individuals were recently uprooted during an anti-encroachment drive conducted around the zone. Legal representatives and advocates strongly highlighted the sudden financial vulnerability of these displaced families.
Responding to the court's previous queries, the deputy commissioner of Ramgarh presented an immediate rehabilitation roadmap. The district administration is committed to constructing temporary commercial shelters using bamboo and asbestos sheets. In a significant breakthrough, the DC assured the bench that these makeshift markets would be ready within 15 days, allowing the affected traders to quickly resume their livelihood activities.
Acknowledging these timelines, the HC directed state authorities to carry out both the tourism planning and the rehabilitation work with full efficiency.
