SAMASTIPUR, July 18 -- A jewellery shop owner was allegedly shot after he resisted an attempted robbery by a group of armed men at Dinesh Jewellers & Sons, Panchvati Chowk, under Sindhiya Ghat area of Bibhutipur police station in Bihar's Samastipur district, police said. Eyewitnesses claimed seven men arrived at the shop in a SUV. Of them, four entered the shop carrying pistols while others waited outside. Shop owner Dinesh Sah said he was preparing to close the shop when they barged in and demanded keys to the cash drawer at gunpoint. "I told them I was not the owner. They then tried to loot the shop. During the scuffle, one of the criminals fired two rounds, and a bullet struck my left leg," Sah said. Sensing that a crowd was gathering, the attackers fled, firing in the air while escaping. Their robbery attempt failed. Deputy SP at Rosera, Sanjay Sinha said, "Sah, who is being treated at Samastipur Sadar Hospital, has provided a description of the assailants. Police are examining CCTV footage from the area to trace their escape route. The accused will be arrested soon. Probe is on."...
