PATNA, Aug. 4 -- Vigilance Investigation Bureau on Monday caught a junior engineer and his associate red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.1.26 lakh during a raid inside the Banka Zila Parishad (District Council) office, officials said. According to the complainant, JE Om Prakash Mandal was withholding his file and refusing to process pending payment clearances without the bribe. Following a confidential verification and confirmation of the demand, a trap was set up led by DSP Satyendra Kumar. The team was subsequently sent to Banka to conduct the raid. They caught both Om Prakash and his associate Jageshwar Mandal while accepting the bribe. Both the accused were taken into custody and are being brought to Patna for further interrogation.
