PATNA, Oct. 30 -- The intra-party feud in the Janata Dal (United) that plagued the party's legislative council poll campaign continues unbated even after the results as Neeraj Kumar, the party's sole winner, is not ready to forgive or forget colleagues who tried to mar his election. Even though his principal opponent, Mokama MLA Anant Singh, has been expelled by the party, he has refused to seek greetings from senior party leader and Union minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh who tried to mediate a truce between bickering leaders but, in the process, voiced concerns of Singh. After his victory from the Patna graduates' seat, Neeraj went to meet party supremo Nitish Kumar, party's working president Sanjay Kumar Jha, Deputy CMs Bijendra Prasad Yadav and Vijay Kumar Jha and others. However, when media persons asked whether he would call on Lalan Singh too, he retorted: "There is no question of taking blessings from him." "I am receiving good wishes and blessings from a lot of leaders. After all, what was my fault that I was subjected to such difficulty (in the campaign)? I need to know. I will pay back this debt with interest. Some people were predicting that I would lose deposit, but the politics of muscle power and money power did not work," he added. Meanwhile, the JD(U) defended its decision to punish Anant Singh. Sanjay Jha said, "It is important to uphold discipline and quell anti-party activities, as any organisation can run only with discipline." "The situation within the JD(U) had become chaotic because of Anant Singh. The action against him was the party's unanimous decision and had the nod of national president Nitish Kumar. For any decision, his approval is necessary. And when there is a party decision, everyone has to abide by it, irrespective of whether one likes it or not. Neeraj Kumar has won because the NDA workers unitedly worked for him," he added. Regarding the loss of three other seats that the JD(U) contested, Jha said the performance would be reviewed in the first week of November. "We won just one seat last time and we have retained that, but there will be a thorough review of why we could not win other seats and steps will be taken accordingly. We certainly hoped to improve our tally, especially after a lot of work has been done for teachers, and we will see if dissension within the party also harmed our prospects," he added....
