PURNEA, July 21 -- Seven members of an inter-state gang of thieves, four of them being women, were arrested on Sunday evening in Bihar's Purnea district with stolen goods worth over Rs.7 lakh including some Australian dollars in Bihar's Purnea district, officials said on Monday. According to officials, a couple ran the gang. Police said the arrested members have histories of serious criminal cases registered against them and were arrested from two areas under Sadar police station and Muffasil police station. The arrest comes against the backdrop of rising burglaries in the last few months, leaving citizens in panic and anguish over poor policing. According to officials, the gang has been active in several districts for a long time targeting locked houses in residential societies. The arrested members have been identified as Raju Mukhiya and his wife Arti Devi, both residents of Madhepura, Gulfan Ansari, Munna Mukhiya Renu Devi, Sakko alias Sakin, Chunni Khatun. Meanwhile, a case under various sections including 305 (A) (Theft) and 331 (4) (house trespassing) of the BNS, was registered against them and further investigation is underway....
