IndiGo flight from Purnea diverted to Jaipur due to poor Delhi weather
PURNEA, Sept. 5 -- An IndiGo flight from Purnea to Delhi (Flight 6E6560) was diverted to Jaipur due to inclement weather in the national capital, officials said on Thursday. The passengers on board waited at Jaipur International Airport (JAI) for the weather to become conducive for flight operations.
The IndiGo flight, which departed Purnea Airport at 1:58 pm on Friday, could not land in Delhi and was diverted to Jaipur Airport.
One passenger on board told HT that the plane landed at JAI around 4:30 pm. "We are waiting for the weather to turn favourable for the flight," the passenger said.
Purnea Airport director D P Gupta told media persons that the Delhi-bound IndiGo flight was diverted to JAI, prioritizing passenger security.
"It will leave JAI only after the weather is favourable at the Delhi airport."
At least nine flights were diverted at the Delhi airport on Friday due to bad weather conditions.
An official said four flights each were diverted to Jaipur and Lucknow, and one flight was diverted to Ahmedabad. The diversions happened between 3.30 pm and 4.30 pm, the official added.
