Hundreds attend legal empowerment camp
Dhanbad, July 13 -- Hundreds of people received benefits from various government welfare schemes, compensation, appointment letters and financial assistance at a Mega Legal Empowerment Camp organised by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) at BCCL's Anupurna Bhawan here on Sunday.
Held under the campaign "Adhikar Aapka, Prayas Hamara" (Your Rights, Our Effort), the camp brought together the judiciary, district administration and several government departments to ensure that legal aid and welfare schemes reached the needy.
The programme was attended by principal district and sessions judge Nikesh Kumar Sinha, BCCL chairman-cum-MD Manoj Kumar Agrawal, City SP Ritwik Srivastava, Rural SP S Mohammad Yakoob, additional collector Pradeep Kumar Shukla, Dhanbad Bar Association president Radheshyam Goswami, general secretary Jitendra Kumar, judicial officers, senior district officials, members of the Legal Aid Defence Counsel System and a large number of beneficiaries.
Stalls set up by various government departments provided information on welfare schemes, legal rights and public services, while eligible beneficiaries received on-the-spot assistance.
Addressing the gathering, Nikesh Kumar Sinha said, "Justice becomes meaningful only when its benefits reach the last person in society."...
