Heroin worth Rs.2cr seized, 4 held
PURNEA, May 4 -- Police here on Sunday seized 2.36 kg of heroin worth over Rs.2 crore in the black market and arrested four people, including three from West Bengal, for alleged drug trafficking. This comes a day after Araria police arrested four persons from West Bengal under similar charges, officials said on Sunday.
Purnea SP Sweety Sahrawat said the police made the seizure acting on a tip off. The team also seized two SUVs, four mobile phones and Rs.6,570 cash from the accused. "The drive against drug rackets will continue. Our focus is to make Purnea a drug-free district," she said.
"Police are carrying out raids to arrest others involved based on information revealed by Wasim Akram (25) of Bihar's Nawada, and Musabbir Momin (26), Hasimuddin Momin (25) and Asgar Ali (22), all three residents of Malda (W Bengal). All four have been charged under NDPS and BNS," the SP added.
On Saturday, Araria police seized over one kg heroin worth Rs.1 crore and arrested four persons, all residents of Malda in West Bengal. "Malda has emerged as a drug haven and police in Bihar must act with Bengal police to rein in the syndicate," a senior police officer told Hindustan Times....
