DARBHANGA, Sept. 28 -- A six-member committee appointed by the Bihar environment department has mandated that all ongoing and future beautification projects at Darbhanga's historic Gangasagar, Dighi, and Harahi ponds must strictly adhere to environmental norms to preserve their ecological integrity, officials said on Sunday. The committee, headed by the Darbhanga district magistrate, held a meeting on September 26 following its constitution by the environment, forest and climate change department in compliance with the Supreme Court's proceedings in the Talab Bachao Abhiyan vs State of Bihar & Ors case (WP(C) 362/2026).
