Governor starts proceedings for NPU V-C's ouster
RANCHI, Sept. 11 -- Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, who is also the chancellor of the state universities, has initiated the process to remove Nilamber Pitamber University (NPU) Vice-Chancellor Dinesh Kumar Singh following complaints of "administrative and financial irregularities", people aware of the development said on Thursday.
"The process for his removal has started. The state government's higher education department has been asked to prepare the proposal. In sync with this process, the Lok Bhavan secretariat issued an order on Wednesday informing the vice-chancellor about restraining his administrative and financial powers. He is now entitled only to do routine work. Under any special circumstances, he would act as per the chancellor's direction," a senior official aware of the development said.
Following the Chancellor's direction, NPU Registrar Nafis Ahmed issued an office order.
"In light of a letter from Rajyapal Sachivalaya, Jharkhand, all concerned are hereby informed that His Excellency the Governor-cum-Chancellor has ordered the immediate restraint of all financial and administrative powers delegated to Prof (Dr) Dinesh Kumar Singh," it read....
